The character has a history with Jeremy and Elena, who want to protect her from all the supernatural shenanigans going on in town (you know, like the rampant vampire problem, the werewolves, the ghosts...). Earlier this month, Vampire Diaries also cast Todd Williams as a powerful vampire hunter who shows up in Mystic Falls to (presumably) wreak a little havoc.
