Mikel Obi dropped out of CAF Glo Awards




















The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday unveiled the shortlist of five players of the 2012 African player of the year Award with the only Nigerian on the initial list of 10 players, John Mikel Obi dropped.

Topping the new shortlist is current African player of the year, Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast & Man City.

Three-time winner, Didier Drogba was also named. Cameroon and Barcelona midfielder, Alex Song and Ghanaian Andre Ayew with Senegalese Demba Ba completes the list.

Meanwhile, Mikel has been charged for his behaviour after Chelsea’s match against Man United where allegation of racial slur was made against referee Mark Clattenburg. Clattenburg has been cleared of allegation but Mikel has been charged by the English FA for an alleged use of threatening and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour in or around the match officials’ changing room after the match. Mikel has until Friday, 30 November to respond.
