Fall 2009, Part 3

Below: Nathan Jenden's dress literally looks like paper that has been cut-out (a la elementary school snowflakes) and I love it!

Below: Luella's cocktail frock.

Below: House of Holland's fall collection seemed like a spring collection, as it used white and color gradients. I love color though and found this collection to be refreshing.

Below: This Erdem dress is a great example of the baroque look that I like. While there is a lot going on, the detail is limited to two colors which makes it work.

Below: Everything about this Emporio Armani outfit dazzled me - from the layered pleated pieces to the kneesocks - fabulous!

Below: Christopher Kane's use of black and beige created these sharp dresses. I love that their modern and minimal, but still remain soft looking.

Below: Christian Siriano's (of Project Runway) beautiful layered turquoise gown.

Below: I had never heard of Bora Aksu, but I took a look at their fall collection and loved it! While the ripped tights are a little tacky, I thought the garments were beautiful. I love that this dress is a basic feminine babydoll style, and even has a bow, but there is also something edgy about the top of it.

Favorite Academy Awards Dress

So far, I've only seen a handful of the gowns worn at the Academy Awards this year, but it's no surprise that Reese Witherspoon's dress was my favorite. Not only is she my favorite actress, but she consistently makes red-carpet choices that are very similar to things I would pick out.

This gorgeous Rodarte dress just took my breath away!

Fall 2009, Part 2

Just sharing some more items I found in the Fall 2009 collections...

Below: Vivienne Tam's dramatic, flowing gown.

Below: Proenza Schouler's multi-textured dress.

Below: Evidence that Oscar de la Renta continues to be one of my all-time favorite designers - a fabulous leopard print, belted dress!

Below: I love the feminine details of Naeem Khan's designs as well as the fact that he wasn't afraid to use colors like light peach and white in his fall collection.

Below: As usual, Marchesa displayed some gorgeous gowns.

Below: J. Mendel's use of pintucks and waist details made for a very ladylike collection.

Below: Isaac Mizrahi - The rich colors in this dress truly evoke an autumn palette. The leather belt and jacket are wonderful extra touches.

Below: Slinky and sexy gowns from Douglas Hannant.

Fall 2009, Part 1

I've been actively checking the Fall 2009 RTW lines as they're posted to Style.com, and I'm afraid to say that so far I've been a bit disappointed. (Can someone please explain to me why shoulder pads are making appearances on many of the runways??) Not much has been catching my eye this season, but here are some gems that I found within the rubbish.

Below: Lela Rose's gowns were gorgeous. I love the use of the belts to create a waist in the flowing fabrics.

Below: Jill Stuart's babydoll frock that looks like a confection. How sweet!
Below: Chris Benz's collection stood out immediately because he chose to use rich, sunny colors in his fall collection. I get tired of seeing the same palette of black and gray, so this was refreshing! I particularly liked the interesting silhouette below that combines an empire waist and a pencil skirt.

Below: Donna Karan, one of my all-time favorite designers, had an overall bland collection, but I did find this gorgeous dress towards the end.
