Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

Last week, the Aussies put on their own fashion week and had an impressive display of sartorial skills.







[Right] Silky trapeze dress from Ginger & Smart. The shoulder detail is a little odd, but I am in love with the fabric. I like that it looks like more of a geometric pattern rather than the tie-dye effect that is more common.






[Below] Jayson Brunsdon's collection was exquisite. There wasn't a piece that I didn't like, but these three images are the highlights.

Many of his dresses had delicate waist details, like in the dress below.


He also used bows and interesting fabrics.


Some of his most beautiful designs were simple and streamlined, like the wrap gown below.

Costume Institute Gala

Monday night was the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala to open the latest exhibit "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion".

Not only am I excited about seeing the exhibit in New York this summer, but also because this means there is plenty of evening gown fodder for my blog!








[Below] Kate Bosworth in Stella McCartney. Notice in the middle picture how the back is sheer all the way down to the top of the hips.



[Below] Claudia Schiffer wearing an artistic Atelier Versace gown.



[Below] Gisele Bündchen wore a mini-dress by Versace. She and Tom Brady made quite the couple.





[Below] Ashley Olsen in a dress from her own line, The Row. From the front, it seems a little plain, but the sexy plunge of the back makes up for it.



[Below] Heidi Klum in a voluminous J.Mendel gown. The subtle color differences and layers of fabric give it a dreamy quality.

Cartier 100th Anniversary

Cartier recently hosted a party to celebrate the iconic jeweler's 100th anniversary. Various stars attended and looked fabulous as usual, but I particularly liked two dresses.

[Above] Rachel Weisz in a chic asymmetrical sheath dress.


[Above] Demi Moore looks amazing in a black and white belted dress. She is perfection all the way down to her Christian Louboutin heels.

Fashion Week by Berns

Somehow, I stumbled upon that fact that Stockholm has its own fashion week. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Swedes can create fashion just as good as their Volvos or moderately priced furniture (Ikea).







These images are from the designer Ida Sjöstedt. I really like the 1960s vibe with the furry swing coats and fishnet stockings.




This lacy dress looks so delicate and sweet.


I can't tell if the coat below is made out of parka-esque material, or if it is a bit more dressy than that. Either way, I love the coat and its super-feminine shape.
