Fall 2009, Part 9

Finally, my last post about the Fall 2009 runways!

2 Below: Cocktail dresses from Requiem.

This is one of the most interesting dresses I've seen. The structured, tailored bodice and the free form ruffles on the skirt create a perfect balance.

This two-tier trapeze dress is beautifully simple. The fabric looks like it has some weight to it, which I like.

2 Below: Adorable and wacky layered skirts with a great color palette from Louis Vuitton.

5 Below: The Fall 2009 Nina Ricci line was incredible. Olivier Theyskens is a true master of fashion, as he has shown through his work for Nina Ricci, Rochas, and his own eponymous label.

The structure of these gowns defies gravity. The process behind creating them must be painstaking.

The sheer fabric of the skirt on the dress below combined with the horizontal stripes resembles a crinoline slip.

Fall 2009, Part 8

Below: John Galliano's crazy mixture of peasant and goth glam. The skirt is really neat on this outfit because all of the layers are visible. The ruffles at the bottom look supple.

2 Below: Jean Paul Gaultier's simple, yet interesting dresses.

Below: I'm not too crazy about this Hussein Chalayan dress, but I thought the boots were very cool. The top straps around the thigh suggest garters.

3 Below: These Giambattista Valli gowns are exquisite. I love the colors and the peacock feathers on the last dress.

Fall 2009, Part 7

This may seem a little late, but I have so many pictures I saved from the Fall 2009 collections, and I'm trying my best to get through them all! There are a few more posts to come after this one...

Below: This gown is not conventional Emilio Pucci, but it is gorgeous nonetheless!

4 Below: Dolce and Gabbana

Even though these various patterns might seem to clash, I think they work because they are the same color scheme.

As always, I am attracted to black lace and sheer fabric.

Printed images like this are usually only seen on t-shirts, but I like the idea of using it on an evening gown. The placement is great, as is the black fabric peeking out from underneath the skirt.

2 Below: D&G offered a variety of looks. I like the t-shirt/fluffy skirt combo on this one because it is quirky and unusual.

The lace on this dress looks soft and supple.

Below: CNC Costume National's sequined cocktail dress - perfect for a party.

Below: This Byblos gown is interesting because the colors are so subtle - it almost looks monochromatic until you notice the change around the hip area.

Fall 2009, Part 6

2 Below: Jasmine Di Milo - The contrast of the black lace and the orange is really striking. I'd expect it to remind me of Halloween, but luckily it doesn't!

Jasmine Di Milo's tiered tulle or chiffon gown has a very Monique Lhuillier-esque vibe - probably why I like it.

Below: Once again I am attracted to the sheer black fabric at Moschino. I love the bow detailing and the high collar.

Below: Prada takes a conservative tweed dress and spices it up with a plunging neckline and accents of red

Below: Gorgeous shoulder draping in velvet and chiffon at Lanvin

Fall 2009, Part 5

Below: This Burberry dress looks so light and airy. I also love the buttons on the bodice and the detail around the waistline.

Below: Azzaro's dress features translucent sleeves. The sheer trend is everywhere right now and I am eating it up!

I love how simple, yet interesting his gowns are.

The chiffon top part on the dress below reminds me of a spider web.

The sequins/beading on these two gowns reflect the light beautifully. The dress below has an unusual neckline that really caught my eye.

Fall 2009, Part 4

I am obsessed with Luisa Beccaria's Fall 2009 collection.

I loved that some of the pieces were tailored and reminiscent of the 1960s.

There were also frilly dresses made from flowing fabric.

The cocktail dresses are perfect for a party!

She mixed bold, dark blues with soft nudes and beiges.

The evening gowns were simple and gorgeous!

Fall 2009, Part 2

Just sharing some more items I found in the Fall 2009 collections...

Below: Vivienne Tam's dramatic, flowing gown.

Below: Proenza Schouler's multi-textured dress.

Below: Evidence that Oscar de la Renta continues to be one of my all-time favorite designers - a fabulous leopard print, belted dress!

Below: I love the feminine details of Naeem Khan's designs as well as the fact that he wasn't afraid to use colors like light peach and white in his fall collection.

Below: As usual, Marchesa displayed some gorgeous gowns.

Below: J. Mendel's use of pintucks and waist details made for a very ladylike collection.

Below: Isaac Mizrahi - The rich colors in this dress truly evoke an autumn palette. The leather belt and jacket are wonderful extra touches.

Below: Slinky and sexy gowns from Douglas Hannant.
