I'm Grateful My Cancer Is Gone- Vast Of Bracket

“I’m grateful the cancer was an early discovery, even though it should have been earlier than when it was discovered. It actually took more than 3 months for Nigerian doctors to discover I had cancer after taking several pain-killers and medicine for headache; we had to fly to London for treatment after it was discovered. We spent a whole lot of money, but we thank God for Life.

My greatest weapon is God and then training. I train a lot even when I was sick. I discovered that it is one of the biggest weapons to fight sickness.

One thing about Cancer is once discovered on time, with the right medication, it will be cured forever. I’m healthy now and there is no more trace of cancer in my blood again.”

We really thank God for his life.

Security guard hangs self in Ogun

A 67-year-old night guard, Matthew Isidahume, on Monday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, committed suicide by hanging himself inside a church.

Isidahmue was said to be one of the night guards employed by the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ago-Ika in Abeokuta North Local Government Area.

Our correspondent gathered that members of the church, who had converged for the Morning Prayer session, discovered the corpse of the deceased dangling where he had hanged himself.

A member of the Church Council, Adekunle Adegoke, said members who came for the Morning Prayer meeting, met the gate locked and had to wait for about 30 minutes thinking the late Isidahume had gone to the toilet.

Adegoke added that when the guard was still nowhere to be found, a young boy was lifted across the fence to find out what had really happened to him.

He further explained that the boy later returned and gave them the sad news that the night guard had hanged himself.

“If you look closely you will see his footprints on the generator which showed that he climbed, tied something on his neck and then jumped,” he said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said three of the night guards were supposed to be on duty as of the time the incident happened.

Adejobi, a deputy superintendent of police, further stated that the deceased left a suicide note which was now assisting the police in their investigation. He added that the command would do a thorough job in order to get to the root of the matter.

Man in police net for assaulting woman

A 27-year-old man Kabiri Umar, caused a stir on Tuesday when he allegedly grabbed the buttocks of a married woman, Joy Francis, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The man, an Hausa resident in Eka Street, was arrested by the police for assault on Francis.

Francis said she wanted to buy fish when Umar grabbed and caressed her buttocks.
It was learnt that as the woman shouted at Umar in embarrassment, he took it as an insult and slapped the woman before hitting her with firewood on the face.

The injured woman told our correspondent that she initially thought Umar was going somewhere else when he stopped and grabbed her.

She said, “As he touched my buttocks, I asked him to stop that nonsense bacause I am a married woman.

“As soon as I asked him to stop, Umar exclaimed, ‘Kai!’ you called me nonsense; and before I could say anything further, he slapped me. He then hit me on the face with firewood.

“In the process, I lost my BlackBerry Bold 5, which I bought for N75,000, a necklace which I got for N2,000, and the money on me.”

However, Umar said Francis insulted him.

He said, “When I was eating, this woman looked at me and said Hausa eat one type of food every time. She said the food I was eating is black. I did not like it. After that I cannot recollect what happened again.

“After all, what will I do with this woman? I have two wives already. They are all with me here in Uyo.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Mr. Etim Dickson, confirmed the assault and Umar’s arrest.

He said, “This is a clear act of indecent assault. Hitting the woman with a stick is another assault. The police will deal with the matter accordingly.”

One of Umar’s kinsmen, Umar Musa, promised that the Hausa community would caution him when he was freed from the police custody.

Doctors Use Superglue To Stop Bleeding From Brain Of Baby

The unbelievable happened at the University of Kansas Hospital when doctors had to apply superglue to stop the bleeding from the brain of a baby to save her life during an emergency surgery after it was discovered that Baby Ashlyn Julian was suffering from brain aneurysm.

The baby was discovered to be bleeding from two places but it was discovered her mother said she observed that baby Ashyln was not her usually self as she kept screaming and didn’t respond well to care as opposed to her quietness.

“She has an aneurysm and it’s already haemorrhaged, and that’s just frightening,” Gina recalled.

Ashlyn had suffered from a stroke and bled from two places after having an aneurysm in the brain, a rare condition for babies under 28 days.

The Endovascular Neurosurgeon Dr. Koji Ebersole of the University hospital decided against cutting into the baby’s brain as every drop of blood is crucial in infants. Also, the condition in babies this age is so rare that tiny tools do not exist to perform the surgery.
The decision was made to use a sterile drop of superglue to fix the aneurysm.

Dr. Alan Reeves, an interventional neuroradiologist, placed a catheter in the baby’s body, entering at the hip, and then Ebersole was able to drop in the superglue and it did the magic and it is expected that Ashlyn will make a full recovery as her brain was not fully developed.

Nine-month-old baby dies in Lagos building collapse

A nine-month-old baby died while three others sustained injuries after a three-storey building collapsed on Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the building, located on 353 Agege Motor Road, Challenge Bus Stop, collapsed around 3pm on Tuesday. The baby’s parents were among the injured.
According to rescue officials, most of the occupants of the residential building were not at home when the incident occurred.

The building was said to have been built as a conventional apartment but two stories were added to it which weakened its foundation.

A police source at the scene said, “The building was built like ‘Face me I face you’ (single rooms apartment) behind a four-storey building in the same compound but the landlord added two floors which weakened its foundation.

“The building came crashing around 3pm and we all rushed there to rescue people. Three people were saved and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, a baby of about nine months was found buried under the rubble.”

It was learnt that sympathisers were able to salvage some properties even before the arrival of the rescue officials.

The incident expectedly worsened the usual heavy traffic in the area.
The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, told our correspondent that rescue efforts had ended.

He said, “We received a distress call at our station at Isolo that there was a building collapse and we rushed down to the scene. Three people were rushed to hospital while a baby of about nine months was found dead.

“Rescue operations continued until no other person was found under the rubble.”
It was learnt that state officials had sealed off and marked the building next to the collapsed one for demolition.

According to state officials at the scene, the building had earlier been identified as a distressed. He said that some of its occupants had vacated while some ignored the warning and stayed behind.

When contacted on the telephone, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, said, “The incident occurred during the rain.

The Divisional Police Officer, Mushin, received a distress call and mobilised his men to the scene.
“Four people were rescued, including a baby but on getting to the hospital, the baby gave up the ghost.”

MKO Abiola, Susan Rice & A Deadly Cup Of Tea - By Femi Fani Kayode

Late MKO Abiola
Late MKO Abiola
Ambassador Susan Rice was up until recently the American Ambassador to the United Nations.

Her long-standing aspiration of becoming the Secretary of State for her country was dashed when the Republicans in the Senate started sharpening their knives in anticipation of her formal nomination for that position by President Barak Obama.

Sensing that her nomination would not scale through the Senate and that she would not be confirmed as Secretary of State due to the role she played in the cover up of the Benghazi affair in which the American Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other American citizens were murdered by a group of islamist terrorists, her nomination was withdrawn.

Instead of Secretary of State, President Obama has now nominated her for the position of National Security Advisor which is a job that does not require Senate approval or confirmation.

I wish Susan Rice well in her new assignment but I am constrained to ask the following questions and the people of Nigeria would like to have the answers. What did she put in the tea that she served to Chief MKO Abiola on July 8th 1998 just before he died?

She was one of the last people that saw him alive, she served him some tea, he coughed violently, collapsed right in front of her and her team and one hour later he was dead. What was in the tea? Was it Abuja ''green tea'', Darjeeling, Earl Grey, Liptons or some other more exotic brand?

Can someone please ask Susan Rice what her role was in the death of MKO Abiola? Who sent her to do the job and who was she working for?

At that time she was Assistant Secretary of State for America in President Bill Clinton's government. Was she acting on his direct instructions or simply on the instructions of her boss and controller in Langley?

Chief MKO Abiola was the winner of Nigeria's freest and fairest elections. That election took place on June 12th 1993.

The following day it was annuled by General Ibrahim Babangida. Shortly after that, as a consequence of the sheer outrage that was generated by the annulement, Babangida was compelled to ''step aside'' and hand over power to Chief Ernest Shonekan.

In what was clearly a strategic manouver he left General Sani Abacha (his own Chief of Army Staff) behind to be the Minister of Defence for the incoming administration.

A few months later Abacha toppled the Interim National Government of Chief Ernest Shonekan which he had served and seized power for himself. Abiola was arrested and detained. He was never granted his freedom again.

Four years later Abacha himself was murdered by forces that are yet to be identified and General Abdulsalami Abubakar took power. Exactly 30 days after Abacha was killed, those same forces that killed him murdered Abiola as well in an attempt to ''balance the equation''.

These are the facts and sequence of events. One thing is self-evident and cannot be denied no matter which side of the divide one may have been on in the June 12th saga- certain questions must be answered. And some of those questions are as follows. Who killed MKO Abiola? Who killed Sani Abacha? Who sent the respected Chief Emeka Anyaoku (the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth at the time) and Mr. Kofi Annan (the Secretary General of the United Nations at the time) to meet with Abiola and ask him to relinquish and renounce his mandate if he wanted to be released? What was their response when Abiola refused to do so?

What role, if any, did officials of the Abubakar administration play in the murder of both Abacha and Abiola? What role did the CIA play and exactly what transpired in the room when Assistant Secretary of State Susan Rice (as she then was), Ambassador Thomas Pickering and two other faceless and nameless officials from the American Embassy met with Abiola on that fateful day.

For how long did Ambassador Pickering give him mouth to mouth resuscitation after he collapsed? Sadly instead of being revived and released that day Abiola died in what can only be described as mysterious and questionable circumstances.

This is all the more so because Abiola's security officer and the man that was charged with looking after him and protecting him throughout the time that he was incarcerated (an honest, upstanding and courageous police officer by the name of ASP Zadok) told the Oputa panel in 2002 that Abiola was ''hale and hearty'' and in ''very high spirits'' just before going into the meeting with the Americans.

He went further by telling the panel that as he was about to enter Aguda House (the premises where the meeting was scheduled to be held) with Abiola he was asked to leave his principal, to step out of the premises and to go and pick up another car from somewhere else by one of General Abdulsalami's security officers.

He promptly obeyed the order but half an hour later when he came back he found Abiola in a terrible condition, coughing violently, writhing all over the floor in pain and breathing his last breath. Thirty minutes later he gave up the ghost.

Another question that needs to be answered is the one that the respected columnist Mr. Gbolobo Ogunsanwo has dubbed as ''the question of the missing one hour''. Permit me to explain.

According to the testimony that was given to the Oputa Panel by Major Hamza Al Mustapha, who was General Abacha's Chief Security Officer, from the first day that Abiola was arrested right up until the day that he was murdered he (Al Mustapha) was in charge of his (Abiola's) security.

Each time Abiola was moved from one safe house to another he had to sign for it. Each time Abiola ate his food or drank anything, his men tasted and drank it before-hand.

He went as far as to say that each time Abiola went to the toilet he was made aware of it and that nothing happened around Abiola or to him without his direct permission and the involvement of his most loyal men.

After Abacha was murdered and Abdulsalami Abubakar became Head of State, Al Mustapha was still in charge of Abiola's security and he still maintained direct responsibility for his life, his well-being and his welfare right up until the minute that he was murdered.

When Mustapha appeared before the Oputa Panel he exposed the fact that in the entire period of four years that he and his team watched over Abiola it was only in the one hour that he was killed that they had no knowledge or control of what was happening to or around him.

according to him, Abiola was removed from the guest house that he had been staying without his (Al Mustapha's) signature or knowledge and without anyone seeking his permission.

Simply put he was kept in the dark about the whole thing. Secret orders were given to keep him out of the loop, to take Abiola to a destination which he knew nothing about and to ensure that none of the usual trusted food tasters and minders were with him.

The only person that accompanied Abiola from the old guard of those that had watched over him for the previous four years was ASP Zadok and when they arrived at Aguda House (the venue of the meeting) he was conveniently sent on a meaningless errand by General Abdulsalami Abubakar's Chief Security Officer and told to leave. Hence for the first time in four years Abiola was left completely on his own and he was surrounded by a coterie of strange faces who had no genuine affection or empathy for him.

He was with them for one hour and during that hour not one of those that had watched over him, that had secured his safety and that he had grown familiar with over the entire four year period of his incarceration was with him. It was during that ''missing hour'', when he was all alone and very vulnerable, that he was poisoned.

Sadly by the time Zadok, who was undoubtedly loyal to him, returned to the scene Abiola was already dying. The question is who gave the order for Abiola to be brought to that meeting? Why did they keep Al Mustapha in the dark about it? Why was Zadok sent to bring another vehicle that was obviously not needed?

That one hour, and what transpired during it's course, holds the key to everything. It appears that Abiola was lured into a trap by a group of smiling strangers who did not wish him well and who had sinister plans for him. It was like leading a lamb to the slaughter.

Given these circumstances I have no doubt that this was a case of premeditated murder but the question is whose call was it and why did it have to happen? What was the motive? Was it done just to ''balance the equation'' as some said at the time or was it done in an attempt to pave the way for an Obasanjo Presidency one year later? Could General Olusegun Obasanjo have been released from jail and elected President if Abiola had lived and if he had insisted on claiming his mandate?

The Nigerian people have a right to know the truth and it is about time that those that have wielded power in this country for the last few decades told them. The powers that be must appreciate the fact that they cannot sweep things under the carpet forever and that one day, no matter how long it takes, they will be held accountable by God and the Nigerian people for the morbid, secret and oftentimes homicidal choices and decisions that they made.

Yet the truth is that the military operates like a cult and we may never get an honest answer from any of them about what really happened.

This is because there are very few Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar's in the Nigerian military. Very few of them are prepared to break ranks with the leadership and break the ''omerta'' code of silence like Abubakar Umar did over the June 12th election.

Very few of them are prepared to call a spade a spade, speak the truth, expose the lie and damn the consequences. Most of them continue to spin the yarn and tell the lie that Abacha and Abiola's deaths were both from natural causes and that it was just a coincidence that one dropped dead on June 8th 1998, just 4 days before the 5th anniversary of June 12th, and the other droped dead exactly one month later on July 8th 1998. As they say ''the secrets are embedded in the sequence of events, the numbers and the dates'' and, in this case, the sequence of events, the numbers and the dates really do tell an interesting and revealing story.

Yet no matter how hard they try to cover her up and silence her, truth is stubborn and she cannot be drowned. She is like a pack of straws that are held together and pinned down by an all-powerful hand at the bottom of a river. As long as she is held at the bottom of that river she cannot be seen or heard.

Yet one day, in the fullness of time, that all-powerful hand that seeks to supress her forever will get tired and let go and at that point Lady Truth will happily float to the top of the water where she will be seen and heard by all. It is in the same way that one day, in the fullness of time, the pernicious and perfidious verdict of "death by natural causes" or "act of God" that the powers that be have claimed are the causes of Abiola and Abacha's deaths respectively will be exposed for what they are.

The fact of the matter is that until these questions are answered and justice is done Nigeria will not know lasting peace and she cannot possibly achieve her fulll potentials. It is a spiritual thing. Abiola gave his life that we may have a better tomorrow yet we refuse to acknowledge it or to bring his killers to justice. We are repaying his good with evil and the consequences of that are set out in the Word of God.

Whatever anyone may have thought of him as a person, the fact remains that had it not been for Abiola's sheer resilience, courage, steadfastness, sacrifice and gallant refusal to bow before the Nigerian military and give up his 1993 Presidential mandate we would not have democracy in Nigeria today.

He was faithful to his cause to the very last. In return for that the least we could do is to ask the relevant questions, demand the appropiate answers and expose the bitter truth. We owe MKO Abiola, his wife Kudirat (who was also murdered) and all the other June 12th and NADECO footsoldiers and martyrs that much.

Nicole Kelly took the crown Saturday after a 3-day competition in Davenport, Iowa. She will go on to compete for the Miss America crown in September.

Kelly, 23, hails from the Hawkeye State town of Keokuk. She intends to use the coveted platform of the Miss America competition to discuss overcoming disabilities.

The shocked beauty queen said she never expected to become a ‘pageant girl’.

‘As I grew up I learned to counterbalance the initial stares I received from people with an outgoing personality that would not give into “no,”’ writes Kelly in her official Miss Iowa biography. ‘This means that I tried everything.

‘From baseball, to dance, to diving – there is nothing I would not try. I found my passion within a world where I was giving people permission to stare: the stage.’
Kelly will get her shot at the crown September 15, 2013 at the Miss America 2014 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

BANKER SLEEP ON KEYBOARD,ACCIDENTALLY TRANSFERS MILLIONS

An obviously tired German bank employee fell asleep on his keyboard and accidentally transformed a minor transfer into a 222 million euro ($293 million) order, a court heard Monday.

The Hessen labour court heard that the man was supposed to transfer just 62.40 euros from a bank account belonging to a retiree, but instead "fell asleep for an instant, while pushing onto the number 2 key on the keyboard" -- making it a huge 222,222,222.22 euro order.

The bank discovered the mistake shortly afterwards and corrected the error.

The case was taken to court by the man's 48-year-old colleague who was fired for letting the mistake slip through when verifying the order.

The court ruled that the plaintiff should be reinstated in his job.

“He proposed and she was delighted to accept. They are going to go on holiday and start planning for the big day.”
The Sun revealed the couple, both 22, were dating last December after the AC Milan star split from his ex Raffaella Fico. Mario later said of Fanny: “I could spend my whole life with someone like this.”

Wife caught husband pants down with neighbour’s wife on matrimonial bed

He didn’t make love to me for eight months. After we got married, I was without an issue for five years. Life was unbearable for me throughout this period..I developed high blood pressure in the process, but my husband felt unconcerned. It was hell on earth.

I lived in fear, pains and anguish. I kept all these to myself because I didn’t want my home to break.”

Those were the words of a 39-year-old woman, Oluwatosin Abiodun, who appeared at the Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos State, to seek the dissolution of her 11-year-old marriage over allegations of battery, infidelity and threat to life.

Oluwatosin, a trader who is resident at No 5, Bemil Street, Ojodu, Lagos State, informed the court that she had never enjoyed her marriage because her husband had made life unbearable for her.

She further added: “The worst was the fact that my husband was dating a neighbour’s wife and even brought her to our matrimonial home where I caught them pánts down. He has gone further to marry this woman.

“He was fond of beating me with iron rod. He pampered me when I had our child, but he later went back to his former habit of hitting me…

I am tired of the marriage and I want the court to end the union and grant me custody of our child”.

The husband, Mr Olatunji, however failed to appear in court to defend himself. The angry court president, Mr Emmanuel Shokunle, thus adjourned the case for the last time for judgement.

Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With Several Of Her Students

jamila-love-williams-teacher-grand-rapids-300x189

A teacher from the Grand Rapids Public School System in Michigan turned herself in to police Thursday night after being accused of having sex with her students, WZZM 13 reports.

Jamila Love Williams, 35, was booked at the The Kent County Jail just before 6 p.m. She was charged with counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, all of which are felonies. No bond was set.

More victims have come forward since Williams was charged, so the algebra teacher could face additional charges. Williams, a teacher at University Prep Academy for four years, was first accused of having sex with two students.

The Kent County Prosecutor’s office authorized warrants for four counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct against the teacher. Allegedly, she sexually assaulted two boys–ages 15 and 16–at various locations in Grand Rapids over the past three months.

After the police’s investigation into Williams’ conduct became public, more alleged victims have come forward. The prosecutor’s office is reviewing those cases.

Michigan Live reports that Williams has confessed to having sex with at least two boys.

The 16-year-old victim says he had sex with Williams at his home, a park, her car and other locations. The 15-year-old victim claims he and Williams had sex in her car and even in an allay.

Williams has four children, ages 19, 13, 9, and 3, and twin step-children, age 16. She has been placed on administrative leave.

If convicted, Williams could face up to 15 years in prison.

"I Never Hide My Child's Paternity" Omawumi Talks At Last

Top female singer, Omawunmiis has said that she is definitely not going to reveal the father of her daughter until she is married to him. She made this known in a recent interview with a newspaper company that “I never hid my child’s paternity but I felt that since I’m not married, I don’t need to come out and say this is the father of my child. It is always ideal for someone who wants to marry you to be the one to identify himself.

Another thing is that he might not want to identify himself because he is not an artiste. He might not want that part of my life.”

From the look of things, it’s so obvious that Omawunmi is going to the grave with this secret. Though she said a few close friends and family know about him and that they are both having a healthy relationship together.

Hear her, “He might just love me and my child. So I like to respect people’s privacy. I also strongly feel that it is my job as a musician to entertain you and if you feel like my personal life is your business, it doesn’t mean I feel the same way. Initially when I got pregnant, I didn’t feel the need to come out and start telling people that this is the father of my child. I didn’t feel I owed it to anyone.’

Video & pics: Tonto Dikeh falls on stage at Iyanya's concert last night

I’m not going to assume and say she was drunk when she came on to perform at the Kukere concert in London last night, but she definitely behaved odd.

According to reports, she didn’t do much on stage (she was drunk or high on something) as she kept screaming and staggering , telling the crowd how big she is the whole time she was meant to perform…

Her song was playing for her to perform but she kept telling the crowd that she can’t wave because she did not shave her armpit.

Then she did the craziest thing by putting her hand in her armpit and began telling a story of how she was showed love in America (who cares)….blah blah blah, while doing all this, she was staggering… and the next minute she found herself on the fall – oops!

The MC had to escort her off stage when the crowd booed her.

Four teenagers rape girl, threaten to kill her

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four boys for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in the Mile 12 area of the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects, Wale Badejo, Jubril Yusuf, Olusanya Remi and Wale Oluwafemi, who are between the ages 18 and 19, allegedly abducted the victim on her way to school and took turns raping her.

According to the police, the suspects held the victim for over seven hours and threatened to kill her if she told anybody about what happened to her.
A member of the victim’s family, who craved anonymity, said the incident occurred on May 30, 2013.

She said, “She (the victim) told us that one of the suspects, who also lived in the area, had been making sexual advances to her for sometime but she always rebuffed him. The boy (Oluwafemi) and her friends then vowed to deal with her, calling her a proud person.
“She schools at Maryland and because of the distance of the school from home, she leaves home around 6:30am every day.

“On the day of the incident, the boys came on two motorcycles, grabbed her and took her to Oluwafemi’s house at Agiliti.

“The boys blindfolded her and stuffed her mouth with cloth. The boys then took pictures of the barbaric act and made a video recording which they said they would upload on Facebook. The boys further threatened to kill her if she told anybody about what had happened.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that when the victim returned home, she did not inform her parents about what had transpired for fear of being killed.

It was learnt that a resident, who had seen the rape pictures on the phone of one of the suspects, reported the incident to the victim’s parents.
It was learnt that the victim’s mother immediately reported the matter to the Ketu Police Division and the suspects were arrested on June 6.

Our correspondent, who visited the victim’s home on Dada Street, learnt that the suspects had been accused of similar offences in the past.

A resident, who craved anonymity said, “The boys have been accused of raping other girls in the area. They always get away with it and we hope they will be prosecuted this time.”
The case, however, took a sudden twist when the victim’s family said they did not want the case to be taken to court.

The victim’s mother, Iyabo, said, “The families of the suspects have been begging us since the incident occurred and we have decided to let the case go.

“I was pained when I learnt my daughter was raped, but since we are all neighbours and taking into consideration the ages of the boys, we believe it is best to forgive and forget.
“One of the suspects is even an orphan and his 75-year-old grandmother has pleaded with us. For the sake of peace, we do not want a case anymore.

“My daughter has been taken to hospital for treatment and so far, no illness has been found in her blood. She has also received counselling and she will soon resume school.”

A police situation report made available to our correspondent by the police ‘B’ operations department stated that, “On June 6,2013, the mother of the victim reported at Mile 12 Police Post that the suspects conspired and had carnal knowledge of her daughter, who is 14 years old.

“The mother said around 6.30am, when her daughter was on her way to school, the suspects grabbed her and forced her into their room at Dada Street and had sex with her one after the other. They also threatened to kill her daughter and throw her into the river if she told her parents.

“The victim said they blindfolded her and covered her mouth with cloth. The suspects have confessed and will be charged to court.”

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, lamented the rise in cases of rape, adding that parents of victims usually frustrated efforts of the police.

She said, “We have said it many times in the past that parents of victims are of the habit of perverting the course of justice by refusing to cooperate with the police in prosecuting rape suspects.

“Except members of the public rise up against this, rape will continue.”

Nigerian Girl Emma McQuiston Finally Marries British Viscount To Become First Black Marchioness

Happy day: Viscount Weymouth, Ceawlin Thynn, with his bride Emma McQuiston at Longleat

About two months ago, I informed you guys about Emma McQuiston, a 26 year old Nigerian with a British mother, who was engaged to Viscount Ceawlin Thynn, of Britain. If you missed the story, please click HERE.

Emma McQuiston the daughter of Nigerian oil tycoon Ladi Jadesimi, made history when she married the Viscount on Saturday 8th of June, becoming the first black Marchioness* in Britain.

Ceawlin Thynn's father, the Marquess of Bath – famous for his string of ‘wifelets’ – and his real wife, Hungarian-born Anna Gael, 69, sadly boycotted the ceremony, which took place at Longleat estate.

His failure to attend however has nothing to do with not supporting the union. Sources reveal that Lord Bath has expressed great displeasure at his son’s renovation of the family seat at Longleat, which has involved removing a number of his prized erotic paintings, and said he would stay away from the wedding.

The 80-year-old Marquess – wearing mustard chinos and a green velvet jacket – instead went to a wedding

Emma's Nigerian father Ladi Jadesimi was also at the wedding, to walk his daughter down the aisle.

*A Marchioness is a noblewoman of a rank above a Countess in Britain.

A Lot Of Women Are Greedy And Lazy, They Just Want To Get Married And Stop Working--Lola Omotayo [Peter Okoye's Baby Mama]

Lola Omotayo, the heartthrob of Peter Okoye, one half of the P-Square music stars, tells BAYO ADETU on how her relationship with the musician started and her plan of being an actress

Many people got to know you when your relationship with Peter Okoye started. Who really is Lola Omotayo?

Simply put, what you see is what you get. I can’t really define who I am per se, but I’m humble, caring, loving and a professional in the oil and gas profession. I take my work and family very seriously because they are very important to me, my family in particular.

Can you summarise the journey of Lola Omotayo from a little child to who she is now?

The journey has been a very interesting one. My Dad is a Nigerian and my mother is a Russian. I was brought up in a household where both cultures are very important to my family.

From my mother’s angle, she imbedded her own culture on us as well. She insisted that we speak Russia at home, and we speak Yoruba at home as well, so I got the best of both languages.

I worked for an advertising company called FKG2 and spent about five years there. We did a lot of things and it was interesting, that was where I met Peter actually.

I was still in the company when I gave birth to my son, but because the job was so demanding, I travel a lot and all that, I opted to work in my father’s company, Nosco Oil & Gas, so that I can have time to take care of my baby. I joined as an executive director in order to bring fresh ideas to the company.

Your heartthrob, Peter is quite successful, but you seem not to depend on his wealth. What’s your driving force?

I believe that as a lady, you have to support your partner. You can’t put everything on your partner; it is important to add value as well. Even though I’m not bringing as much as he brings to the table, at least, I’m adding value and making things a lot easier.

Honestly, that’s the way I was brought up; I can’t rely on someone for everything. I have to be independent. I should be able to buy something for my kids without asking their father for money. I feel good as a person knowing that I can do things for myself, not that I want to feel above him in anyway, but I just feel it is important for me to add some value to his life as much as he adds to mine.

What advice do you have for Nigerian ladies who put all their financial burdens on their partner?

I think that is the core of our problems in this society because we put so much pressure on the man to take care of us, pay our bills…we put so much pressure on them, and that tempts some men to start doing some shady businesses. Women put too much pressure on men in this part of the world.

Also, a lot of women are greedy and lazy, so they just want to get married and stop working. It doesn’t mean women should go all out and work for the men, but somehow, you just have to make things easy for him. I see a lot of young ladies out there; it is not as if there are no jobs for them to do, the problem is that they don’t want to do certain type of jobs, they want everything to come easy.

I started the very hard way, I didn’t start the easy way like people assume. I had to work myself up there because I had a vision. A lot of young ladies in Nigeria see people driving fancy cars; carrying fancy bags and assume that a man is supposed to do all of that for them, so they sell themselves in order to get it. But you don’t have to do that. You can always find ways to make money legally.

Assuming you didn’t come from a wealthy family, how would you have coped, considering the tight economic situation of the country?

I think it is still about family values. I came from a humble background; I didn’t come from a very rich background. My parents worked really hard and I saw the care that they took to ensure that they instil the best on their kids, so I drew my strength from there.

You have to fight for whatever you want; if it is education that will take you there, then, you have to go to school and ensure that you get the needed degree. And if you are creative, you can do other things, may be design clothes and all that.

It doesn’t have to be a big job. Dangote didn’t start with millions of dollars, so you have to be focused and work on it gradually to get to where you are going. In fact, coming from a privileged background is difficult because it won’t make you enjoy how life really is. For me, my father really threw me to the dogs; he wanted me to see how life was.

He could have enrolled me to some fancy schools when I was growing up, but he wanted me to see how life is. He made me rub shoulders with people who had nothing. I have friends who came from rich background and today, they have nothing. I also have friends who came from poor homes and today they are doing well. It is about values and hard work.

Ironically, some Nigeria men don’t like ladies who don’t depend on them. How has that been between you and Peter?

I love Peter because he was never intimidated. When I met him, he was just trying to build himself and I was very proud of him. I have a lot of respect for him, his talent and I saw that he had a vision. Peter doesn’t get intimidated by anything; in fact, he supports and encourages me all the time. I think he’s happy that he doesn’t have to do everything; he can rely on me that I will take care of our kids.

What actually attracted you to Peter?

Peter has drive. He has vision and pursues it. He doesn’t let anybody distract him from that vision and that I saw in him, which a lot of people didn’t see. Some people were like, ‘what are you doing with a musician? Are you crazy?’ but I saw something very different and unique about Peter.

I saw the goals he set for himself and how he accomplished those goals step by step, and I was very impressed with that. I also saw that he wasn’t a selfish person.

He was a generous person from the outset, even though he didn’t have much then, he was always generous. I like a man who is generous, not for the financial reason, but also to see how he can add value to other people’s lives; that is very important to me. He is also a good listener; he listens to people, listens to me…those are the things that attracted me to Peter. He’s an amazing guy.

Click for Full Image Size
How romantic is he?

Peter is very romantic as well. He does things that an average Nigerian guy will not do. There was a Valentine’s Day that he came to my house with a guitar and played some love ballads for me. That was really cool and I loved it. Those are the little things that he does that really touched me.

How challenging is it to date a celebrity?

Having a relationship with a musician is one of the most challenging situations to be in. There are things you have to deal with; a lot of women, intruders, fans. You have to appreciate and respect the fans, but you also have some of them who are thinking of other things. I think it’s one of the most challenging relationships one can have.

You won’t even spend much time with your partner because he’s on the road most of the time doing shows and concerts; even during holidays like Christmas, Easter and New Year, they are not around. So I’m not really enjoying that part. But I thank God that we are managing it very well.

With your background in theatre arts, should we expect you in Nollywood soon?

No. it’s not my thing anymore. May be I had the interest 10 years ago, but not now. But if I have to make films, it will be Yoruba movies.
